DVR recorded movie ratings #21

Wow, I have no idea how I went from hardly watching any movies in a week to watching six since my last posting. Having a free HBO and Cinemax weekend, how can I not go through the schedule and see what movies are playing so I can record them? Sometimes these are great weekends, but most times they are a bummer only because when these premium channels are free for the weekend, they end up showing cheesy old movies mixed in with new stuff. Not all the movies listed are from the free preview channels.

• History Of The Eagles: I've had this recorded for quite some time and let me tell you, I am kicking my own ass as to why the fuck did I take so long to watch this music documentary. It was great, it was informative it was fun and sad, and it was 3 hours long. The first 90 minutes has to do with how the band came to be and old interviews entwined with new interviews from the band members and other people who became involved with the Eagles (thank you Linda Ronstadt!). The other 90 minutes had to do with them getting back together after being apart for 11 years for the Hell Freezes Over concert tour. I hadn't realized how long ago that tour was until I saw this documentary. As a birthday gift, I took my dad to that concert and he had the time of his life. There we were swaying ( a bit) and singing along to a band that has always made my dad have a smile on his face and the look of nostalgia upon him was priceless. So, as I was watching this documentary I thought of my dad and how much fun we had that night. he was mesmerized and I was enjoying every minute of seeing my dad so happy. I wanted to call him up and tell him what I was watching, but what was he going to get out of it? Nothing, he doesn't have cable. So, I went to Amazon.com/HistoryoftheEagles and I put that on my shopping list for future use. This documentary has an advantage because it is close to my heart, I give this 5 Daisy-girls. Great band, great music, great times.
• Restless: This movie is going to sound way more depressing than what it seems like. A teen whose parents died in a car crash likes to draw chalk outlines of his body on the ground also likes to attend strangers funerals meets a girl who is dying of cancer. These two form a friendship and soon start to fall for each other. She gets the bad news that she doesn't have much longer to live and has accepted that she will die sooner than later. He doesn't really want to acknowledge the fact that she will die and tries to make the most of what little time they have left. It is a sweet movie and sad at times, but overall, it is a movie in which you wish you were a part of their bonding friendship. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.
• Broken Embraces: For me to not really like Penelope Cruz much, I sure end up watching more of her movies than I ever cared for. But, as I've mentioned before, I don't like her acting in English movies, but I love her in Spanish movies. This movie is about a blind man who is affected by the death of someone from his past. Told in flashbacks, he (wasn't blind at the time) is a director and falls in love with Penelope's character, only she is married to an older man her used to be her boss and helped her out financially when her father was dying. So, she feels that she needs to stay with him as a payback of everything that he has done. Only, her husband realizes that there is something going on with his wife and the director. So he hires a guy who records Penelope and the director every time they get together. The husband also hires a lady who reads lips and she translates to him what the two are talking about in the recordings. He realizes that she has slipped away and in order to keep her to himself, he "accidentally" (lightly) pushes her off the staircase. She then feels compelled to stay with him and tells her lover director that she can't leave her husband or else he will bash the movie (because after all, the husband is the producer). So she decides to stay with him until the movie is complete and the director has finished in the cutting room. Except, that doesn't happen. She shows up at his place all beat up and they both decide to go away together. After some time, they read reviews of how bad the movie was (the husband fucked with the final production to sabotage the movie) and how it was a good thing that the director and actress did not show up to the movie premiere. This angers the director and decide to go back into town and clear some things. Someone follows them in another car and soon you see a crash. Penelope dies and the director becomes blind. His assistant final confesses that she had something to do with the bashing of the movie (under the orders of the producer) and also mentions that he is the dad of her kid (who is now in his 20's and who the director has been telling this flashback story to). This sounds a bit more complicated than how the movie was. The movie was an easy flow to follow, I don't know why I feel my explanation is all over the place. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Desert Flower: Okay, this movie is a sad and depressing one. Another foreign film that has to do with a Somalian girl who was circumsized (AKA Female Genitalia Mutilation) at the age of 3, sold to marriage at age 13, ran away from Africa to go to England, and later the United States (became a supermodel), and finally retired to become a UN spokeswoman for female genitalia mutilation (FGM). My husband watched bits of this with me and he commented on how and why could I watch fucked up movies. At times, I know what kind of movie I'm getting myself into, but other times I don't and this was one of them. I thought she just grew up poor, was discovered and became a supermodel. When I've never heard of a movie, I rarely go read further information about it until after I've seen it. I don't care for spoilers, I actually love them, but a part of me doesn't want to watch a movie and know little bits of information that make the movie much more touching. So, I just tend to read the little snippet of information the guide gives me and if it sounds good I record it. A few times, this movie was hard to watch, especially when she was a little girl and when she showed her roommate in England her mutilation. They don't show it, but the looks on their faces say it all. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Phil Spector: I did not like this movie. I didn't really know what I was expecting. Maybe a backup story as to what led to the event of Lana Clarkson being shot dead in his house. Maybe how Phil Spector came to be one of the most influential and famous record producers, songwriters... we will ever see. This movie had to do with his defense team and leading up to the trial. There was great music being played, but that was about it Helen Mirren played his sick lawyer and Al Pacino played Phil Spector. The only thing I got out of it was that Lana was shot in close range (gun inside her mouth) and that Phil had pin-drop blood splatter in only 3 places on his clothes. The jury can't reach a decision and there is a mistrial. He gets retried again and is sentenced for 19 years to life. I wish there were bands, singers, someone who would say otherwise. The few people from his past ( a few ladies, so it seems) complained that he was  a little off, but no one really came to his defense. I wonder why. I guess this is something I need to read into. On the other hand, now I feel like listening to oldies. I give this movie 1 Daisy-girl.
• Ted:  Stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi, and the voice of Seth MacFarlane as Ted. As a little kid, Mark gets a teddy bear and he names his Teddy. One night he wishes Teddy could talk and he does. Everyone panics, but is fascinated by it. Teddy goes on talk shows and becomes famous. Years later, Mark is now 35 and in a relationship with Mila. Also, Ted's voice has also matured. Mark and Ted like to smoke pot, watch tv and pretty much bum it. He has a job as a rental car agent, but doesn't work much. Mila on the other hand has a job in downtown (what she does exactly, I don't recall). It comes to the point where she tells Mark that he needs to choose between Ted and her, and he picks her. Ted moves out to his own place and parties like a bachelor. Mark tries to stay away, but since Ted is his best friend since age 8, he feels he can't live without Ted. So, Mila dumps Mark. Giovanni (who I love, love love, but looks creepy as fuck in this movie, except where he dances to Tiffany, and gets all cuuuuute again) has been wanting Ted for a long time, he is obsessed with him, so much that he kidnaps Ted for his own kid. Ted calls Mark (who is trying to reconcile with Mila) and tells him that he is in danger. Mila and Mark go and try to find Ted and they end up in a baseball field, where Giovanni is climbing up  after Ted. He manages to pull Ted's leg and ted rips apart in half. Mila and Mark take Ted home and they try to sew him up to see if Ted comes back. He doesn't, til the next morning. Mila wished Ted would come back to life and when Mark sees this, he instantly purposes to her. They get married. This movie was a bit better than I had thought. I give this 4 Daisy-girls.

DVR recorded movie ratings #20

Once again, it has been quite a while since the last review. I didn't have much time to watch movies and write reviews since starting a new job. But, here I am once again, ready to go for it and see how much can be done.

• People Like Us: When I saw the previews for this movie, I could have cared less to watch it. Even as I saw it constantly being played on cable, then I read the synopsis and it seemed pretty interesting. It even had a 3 star rating, so I decided to give this movie a chance. It was pretty good actually. Stars Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Hall D' Addario. Chris' dad dies and he returns home for a while. When he is told about the will, he learns that he has a sister. Instead of either forgetting about it and keeping the money to himself (cause he needs it), he goes and stalks his sister. He goes to her recovery meetings and befriends his nephew. Soon, all 3 of them become buddies and star hanging out and having a good time. Until the sister tries to make a move and he stops her and tells her he is her brother. She beats the shit out of him and kicks him out of the apartment. He decides to go back to New York until the nephew goes to his uncle's house and meets step-grandma. He writes the guy a note saying they moved and gives him the new address. After the guy talks to mom, she gives him a movie reel and tells him he needs to watch this. As he does, he is surprised at what he sees and goes over to his sister's house. She wants nothing to do with him and drives off, but then comes back. She said that although she didn't want anything to do with the now deceased dad (he abandoned her and her mom), she decided to keep the money and make a better life for her kid (who sure likes to get in trouble and has anger issues). The guy tells her if he can show her something and she finally agrees. In the old footage, there we see a young dad who is sitting in his car and video taping the guy (young boy) at a park. Then dad pans over to a girl and a lady sitting down having a picnic. It turns out the lady is his first wife and the little girl is the sister of the guy. Thing is, dad had the guy and the girl both at the park and at some time, you can see both siblings playing together on the jungle jim. They had met each other once before when they were small, but never realized it because they thought they were just kids at a playground playing together. It's a bit of a sappy story towards the end, but I liked the movie anyway. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Compliance: Hmm, this movie. It's a movie that I had been wanting to watch for quite sometime and it's been on my imdb.com list since I first read about it. I can't even really comment if this is a good movie. I didn't hate it, but I did not enjoy watching it, yet I did. I've watched some fucked up shit before and some that would make people, including myself, uncomfortable, but not like this one. This is based on the incidents that occurred throughout America on stupid fucked up people crank calling fast food restaurants and having managers strip search (usually) a female employee due to a supposed complaint of a non-existent customer who claims the employee stole from them. This case happened in a small town (of course) and the employee was accused of stealing money from a customer right at the counter during a very busy shift. The manager calls the employee to her office and the manager is instructed to search the employee and to strip search her. The employee is refusing, but soon enough gives in. During the time she is in the back office only covered by an apron, the manager calls upon other employees to keep an eye on this supposed thief while she manages the restaurant. During these times, the caller (who claims he is a cop) tells these other employees (usually a male) how to handle the supposed thief. The male employees want no part of this and the manager decides it is best if she calls her fiance and keep an eye on her. At this time, he is left in the back office alone with the employee girl and the "cop" tells him that she needs to do certain things to make sure she didn't hide the money she supposedly stole. The employee talks back and the "cop" tells the guy that she has been bad and needs to be punished, so he orders the guy to spank her. It goes on for quite some time (in real life it went on for 10 minutes), she also has to perform oral sex on him and by the time the manager comes back it is all over and the fiance says he needs to leave and doesn't come back. In the car, he calls a friend and asks if he can go over cause he did a really bad thing. At this time, the restaurant custodian comes in and the manager tells him he needs to keep his eye on the employee in the back. When he picks up the phone, the "cop" tells him to perform the same acts he had told the fiance to do and he finds it very disturbing. He tells the manager what the "cop" is telling to do and the manager finally calls her boss and he is not aware of what the fuck had been happening (the caller "cop" had said that he had been talking to the district manager all this time, when in fact the district manager had been sick in bed all day). It ends in the girl being walked out to the police car and the manager looking very distraught. The manager gets interviewed by a TV show and she claims she felt bad at what happened to the poor girl, but then denies incidents that occurred right in front of her even though the tapes showed exactly what was happening. This prank went on for over 10 years and in 30 states. When I read about it, at the time, I had only read about 2 of these incidents. It's hard to rate this movie because I didn't hate it, but it wasn't enjoying to watch. I say it was a good depiction of what happened, although reading about the real incident, this movie was pretty mellowed out and I can see why. 4 Daisy-girls.
• Rabbit- Proof Fence: True Story. Takes place in the 1930's Western Australia. During this time, mostly white men were putting up 3 fences to enclose rabbits and they would often sleep with these Aboriginal women. 3 Aboriginal girls were taken from their mothers after it was found out that they were half-caste. This was a government policy, to "save them from themselves", whatever the fuck that means. They are taken 1,500 miles away from their home to a camp where there are other half-caste girls. Soon enough, Molly, Daisy, and Grace run away and follow the fence to go back home. During this time, the girls run into generous people and not so generous people. They also have to hide from the guys who work at the camp and will take them back there. After some time of constant walking and little food, they run into a man who tells them that they are following the wrong fence. In fact, there are 3 fences, he tells them how instead of walking back, they can cut across. More walking continues and one of the girls decides that the way they've been walking is the wrong way and decides to go on her own. Eventually, the two sisters see the cousin and are motioning her to join them back in their journey, when the men from the camp show up and take her away once again. The two sisters continue on their journey and make it home to their mom. They tell their aunt that the cousin didn't make it and the men took her back to the camp. These two girls, ages 14 and 8 walked 1,500 miles to go back home, most of the journey emancipated and barefoot (I know they aren't used to shoes, but that is a LONG way to travel without having anything on your feet and having to step on a lot of uncomfortable things). The epilogue shows that Gracie (the cousin) died and never returned home. Molly had two daughters and were taken from her, but she managed to escape with one daughter, walking along the fence back to her home. But, the saved daughter was taken away once more when she was 3 and Molly never saw her again. It was a pretty sad movie, I can't imagine reading the book. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.

Been pretty busy lately. My best friend came to visit us from Houston. Ya, it's only a 3-hour drive, but it was awesome seeing and spending time with her. I love this girl to death and have been doing so for the past 15 years. I've also been on a couple of job interviews, some good and some not so good. I wish people would advertise EXACTLY what they are looking for, not give a general description of a job offer and once you're at the interview a whole bunch of other tasks and job hats that they want you to be responsible for. I got a few job offers and one I had to turn down, the pay was less than what I was getting in Houston, it was past downtown, and I would be wearing too many job titles. So I said forget it to that job even though the director kept insisting that it wasn't going to be too overwhelming. The other job offer sounds great, but then I went to the orientation and ever since then there has been something bothersome ticking at me with that position. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's starting to really bother me. I'm waiting to hear from another place on Monday, I've gone to two interviews and on the last one she asked what position I would want there at the school (as if I had already gotten the job). We'll see what happens this following week. So, because of all this going on, I haven't really had time to watch as many movies as I was doing in past few weeks.

• Textuality: I caught this movie during the last movie review. I tend to do my reviews in the morning and this movie was on, except when I tried to find it on IMDb, I couldn't. Let me clear this up, when the movie was on, it was under a different title, it's actually called Sexting. So, when I went to look up more information on it, I couldn't. I had to type in the actors names and take it from there, and there it was under the title Textuality. I didn't search to find this movie on cable, it just happened to be on for background noise purposes. And I must say, it wasn't too bad. The new title for this movie sucks, because they don't do that and it sounds as if it would be a Lifetime movie. Note to Lifetime: I'm not mocking you or your movies, in fact, I love them. Ask my hubby. Anyway, a guy hits a girl on a bike with his car, he offers to buy her a new bike and the go drink coffee. Exchange numbers to seal the deal on the new bike and they start texting. He has a girlfriend and she has sex buddies (4 of them, 1 is married). The guy becomes a bit infatuated with bike girl and at first she couldn't give a damn about him. Then things change, girlfriend finds out about bike girl AND another gal. Bike girl sits her sex buddies down to let them know she can't be sleeping with them anymore. Like I mentioned before, it's not so bad of a movie. I give it 3 Daisy- girls.
• The Magdalene Sisters: I had seen this movie playing for some time on Starz, only I never really got around to reading the description of it until last week, so I recorded it. Wow, can I say wow? This movie is a heavy movie. I'm still shaking my head that girls and women went through what they went through. I won't really get into the details of this movie because I feel that it should be a movie that YOU should watch. Just be cautious that it was based on a real place and according to one of the women still alive, this movie was pretty mild compared to what they went through in real life. It's quite a sad movie and it doesn't really let up from there. For a bit I thought everything would be better after one of the girl's brother comes and gets her, but it doesn't. The main girls get happy endings (if you really want to call it that), but overall, this is a movie that is a bit over 2 hours long, but it is well worth it. Usually, if I'm watching a movie, and I need to go to the restroom or go get a snack, I let it play. With this one, I either paused it, or had to rewind it to see what I missed. If I could, I would give this movie a higher rating that 5 Daisy- girls, but that is as high as my ratings go. I may have to make a new category ratings for movies that I hold dear to my heart, and this is one of them.

Ugh! I want to sleep!! I want to be able to sleep at a decent time and wake up at a decent time. This whole thing of falling asleep no sooner than 3am and waking up about 5-6 hours later is not good.
In other news, our DVR list is getting very, very low. I swear a few days ago we had about 19 things recorded and now we are at 5. Today, I am reviewing 4 movies. With all these posts, you must be thinking, "damn woman, do something with your life besides watch movies!" And I do, I finished a crochet project that my mom had requested for quite sometime, but I had told her that I wouldn't do it until we had settled from our move. Whatever, think what you want, here are the movie reviews.

• An Education: This movie stars Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard. Set in the 1960's, she is a sixteen year old and he is about twice her age. It starts out innocently as him wanting to show her different views on life by exposing her to music, art, operas, etc. Her parents are very hesitant at first, especially dad who wants the best for her daughters.... in education. Mom, on the other hand, is smitten by this new man. After some time, the parents get used to this guy who takes out their teen daughter who is half his age. But, things start getting a little too close for comfort between the two of them. Yeah, they end up having sex. She starts to dress better, thanks to his friends girlfriend, her grades star to slip, and everyone is taking notice. He then asks her to marry him, which she says yes, and her parents love the idea (WHAT THE FUCK?!?), this guy is twice her age and she is still in school. Well, one evening he is to take her and her parents out to a show and they stop for gas. She opens the glove compartment to find a cigarette and she sees these envelopes. He realizes what she sees and she immediately says she wants to go home. The parents have no idea what is happening and she orders them to get back into the house. She then confronts him and it turns out, are you ready for it?, he is married. Ya, married. Not totally surprising, seeing how old he is. But it gets worse, he pretty much lives with his wife and kid...around the corner from her. A few days later, she walks over to his house, where the wife and kid walk out of. She tries to play it off, but the wife already knows what is going on, it's not the first time this has happened. She ends up going back to school and pretty much begging to be let back in, studies her ass off, and eventually gets in to the college of her choice. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls. It was a good movie, but I felt it needed a little extra something.
• Little Fish: Starring Cate Blanchett, Sam Neill, and Hugo Weaving. She works at a video rental place in Little Saigon. She has been sober for 4 years, yet she secretly still goes and sees her druggie ex-boyfriend who is looking for his next high. Her brother and friend (who is supposed to be sober himself, but isn't) who still smoke pot and are selling. She wants to start her life over, but the bank is not giving her a loan to start her own business. She then gets caught up in her ex-boyfriends drug trade and during all this she tries to remain clean and tries to get out of all this ordeal as quick as possible. It was a decent movie, but I felt it needed something more. I give this movie 3 Daisy-girls.
• Snow Cake: Stars Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. Alan gives a hitchhiking girl a ride and as they are getting out of a gas station, they are hit by a semi truck. He is so devastated and is told to stay in town until everything is settled and cleared out. He then wants to go visit the girl's family, but the cop doesn't think it's a good idea. He gets the address and goes over to the house to pay his respects. When the front door opens, he doesn't expect to see what he sees. Sigourney is the mom and she is autistic. Her parents are away on a trip hiking and Sigourney is able to function by herself for a limited time. After some time of trying to get through to her, which he finds odd that she isn't devastated by the news of her daughter being dead. She asks him if he can stay until Tuesday because she doesn't do trash, her daughter always took it out. He hesitates, but after quite some time, he gives in and stays. She becomes tolerable to him, but the kitchen is off limits, he is forbidden to go in there. Starts walking the dog and meets the neighbor, Carrie-Ann Moss. Sigourney thinks she is a prostitute, turns out she is just whorish. As time goes by, Sigourney and Alan get as close as she allows and after sometime, he has a section in the kitchen that he is allowed to go into. Then her parents come home form their hiking trip and are very thankful for this stranger to have stayed and looked after Sigourney. After the funeral, he says his good-byes and leaves town with the girl's dog. It was a sweet, warming, funny movie. Good acting. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls. 
• The Woman In Black: I don't know how this movie got a PG-13 rating. It's kinda fucken creepy at times. The kind where shit just appears, or something moves in the background, but aren't too sure if something actually did. This is a movie my hubby recorded and it was pretty decent. Danielle Radcliffe is a lawyer who goes to this abandoned house (DO NOT go into a house that has been abandoned for years due to someone hanging themselves there and if there is a LONG road down the marsh that ONLY goes directly into a house you cannot see too clearly due to constant fog covering it up!!!) to see if he can find the last will and testament of the lady who owned the place. Well, as you guessed it, weird shit starts to happen and it turns out that there is also a dead boy haunting the place as well as.... the woman in black. Lots of creepy shit, lots of dead kids appearing, lots of moving shit in the blurry background. I say go and check this movie out. I, we (give credit to the hubby), give it 4 Daisy- girls.

DVR recorded movie ratings #17

Wow, if I keep posting reviews as fast as I have been, I may not have to post for quite sometime. My list of movies on my DVR is actually getting shorter. Most of the recordings seem to be stuff my hubby records from Adult Swim.
As you may have known, we live in Austin. We moved here a little over a month ago and I must say it still feels very new to me, but I'm loving it. We are still trying to find our favorite stores and restaurants, but it's been a very pleasurable move from living in Houston. We have been to more outings since moving here and for me, yesterday was the best outing. We attended the Austin Pet Expo. We had gone to the expo when it we were in Houston, but sadly, it was a great disappointment. There weren't a lot of pets and the area in which it was held in was more empty than full. So, I kept my fingers crossed on this one. Austin is a dog-loving place, among other pets. So when we walked into the Palmer Events Center, my eyes bugged out. Doggies everywhere!!! Big, small, scruffy, happy, excited, some scared...they were everywhere and SOOOO adorable. Sadly, we don't have a dog yet (damn my hubby! =P), but it was fun to go. There were treats (some free) for dogs and I got my petting on so much. All this excitement made me miss my Daisy, but I held my head up high. We found a wooden frame with her name on it, and I'm quite sure after seeing my "oh my gawd! We HAVE to get this for Daisy", my hubby pulled out his wallet and bought it. I love my husband for being so tolerable about my cheesiness excitement on basic things. Oh, did I forget to mention that this Dog Expo was free? Parking is not, but who the fuck cares, you get to see doggies and other pets!
Okay, enough about what we did, let's get stared with movie reviews.

• Tsotsie: This is a South African movie with subtitles. I had heard about this movie years ago, so I decided to record it. Oh my fucken god! This guy is ruthless, at first anyway. Tsotsie is a street thug that decides to steal a car and doesn't realize that there is a baby in the back seat. When he hears the baby make noise, he panics and crashes into a street sign. Now, at this point, I would either abandon the car and baby, or leave the baby by the roadside and call the cops but take the car. No, instead Tsotsie leaves the car and takes the baby. Now, this guy doesn't know anything about caring for a baby. He carries it in a paper bag and feeds it condensed milk (which was a BAD idea cause you don't feed that to babies and when he came back after being gone, there were ants all over the baby's face and in his mouth.). In the slums of where he lives, he sees a young mom and follows her to her place. He threatens to kill her if she does not breast feed the baby, which she does. After Tsotsie leaves, he comes back days later threatening her again if she doesn't feed him. She does so and bonds with the baby. After some time, she tells Tsotsie to leave the baby with her, but he insists it's his baby. She then tells him that she knows who the baby really belongs to, that it is in newspaper and the news. He freaks out and takes the baby. He then realizes that no matter what he does, he will get caught. He decides to take the baby back to his home and there is a cop there, who calls for backup. During the movie, Tsotsie has flashbacks of his childhood and how he lost his mom at a young age, so he felt guilty at times about what he has done. In the end, we see Tsotsie dressed nice and leaving the slums behind him to start a new life. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.
• Your Sister's Sister: Man, this movie is messed up. Not really as fucked up as other movies I've seen, but really messed up. After the death of his brother, Jack is still feeling lost. His deceased brother's girlfriend, Iris, suggests he goes and clears his mind at her parents getaway island home. So, he goes for it, but he's not alone. Iris's sister, Hannah is there. There is an awkward moment because they have never met each other and Jack thought he would be there by himself. Well, they start talking and drinking, more drinking than talking. Turns out Hannah left her 7 year relationship to a woman and has been living in the cabin. After some time, the talk leads to sex talk (of course) and Jack keeps talking. She interrupts him by saying ok, let's do it. Jack is stunned, but jumps at the chance to fuck a lesbian. They make their way into the bedroom and he realizes he doesn't have condoms. She goes and finds one and they proceed. The next morning, Iris unexpectedly shows up to surprise Jack, only she didn't know Hannah was going to be there. After hugs and everything else, all three start joking around and everyone is at ease, except for Jack. Every chance he gets, he tries to tell Hannah not to mention anything to Iris about what happened. Iris couldn't care less and is very calm about the whole situation, while Jack is trying to find excuses for things. Well, it turns out that Iris tells Hannah that she really likes Jack, that over the year of her boyfriend's passing, she has gotten closer to him... and she wants to tell him. Hannah is a bit hesitant and tries to convince her otherwise. Finally, Hannah can't take it anymore and she tells her that she fucked Jack. Iris, being pissed and hurt confronts Jack and accuses him of taking advantage of her heart-broken lesbian sister. Hannah then yells out that she didn't know Iris is in love with Jack. Jack was stunned. Then Jack goes to find the trashcan where he threw the used condom away. Turns out there were several holes in the condom. (A bit earlier that day, Iris had mentioned that since now Hannah is single, she can have a baby seeing as her ex-partner was against it.) Jack brings it up during the arguing and Iris confronts Hannah, where Hannah confesses that she really wants a baby. This shocks Iris even more because not only has her lesbian sister fucked the guy she loves, but she may also be pregnant by him. I felt bad for poor Jack because he didn't take advantage of Hannah, she suggested having sex. But he was fucked as in being tricked into having sex for the purpose of impregnating someone. There is more discussion and at the end of the movie, all three of them are holding  a pregnancy tests and see the result. We don't know what the result is. I yelled out, "NoOooooooooo." My hubby jumped and I kept shaking my head going, "no, no, no, nooooo agk!!!" So yeah, I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Melancholia: Movie starring Kirsten Dunst, Kieffer Sutherland, Alexander Skarsgard, and Charlotte Gaisnbourg. Hmm, I'm going to be very bad at describing this movie, but if you want to see a dark, depressing, artistic movie, watch this one. Kirsten and Alexander are late 2 hours to their wedding receptionist, the family is pretty pissed off, mostly the sister and brother-in-law who paid for the wedding. During the festivities, Kirsten slips in and out of the party because something is not right. (She had noticed a new star earlier). Her mom insults her, her boss tells her to be a better employee, her sister insists she be happier considering she paid for everything. Kirsten cries a lot and I can see why. After one of Alexander's attempts to bed her, she pulls away and goes to the gold course, where she fucks her boss's son in a sand trap. Alexander realizes that he can't go on with Kirsten and her moods, leaves her (still wedding party night) and she is once again miserable. The next day, Kirsten is seen extremely miserable and her sister tries to help her take a bath. Kirsten is feeling so out of it that she cringes and cries saying she can't do it. Later on, her mood seems to be lifted and she begins to be her normal self. But then the sister starts feeling as if something is not right. Remember the new star Kirsten saw? Well, it turns out that it's a blue planet that is inching its way toward Earth. Kieffer is an astronomer, and Charlotte's husband, who is keeping an eye on this planet. During this time, we see that it has taken affect on Charlotte and not so much on Kirsten, as if she has already accepted that the end may be near. The planet missed Earth and all is well. The next day, we see Charlotte looking at the planet and it seems pretty far. Later on, we see that the planet is getting closer and closer. Charlotte tries to find Kieffer and when she does, he is in the stable dead from a pill overdose. Charlotte panics, grabs her kid and tries to drive off, except the cars are all dead. Kirsten is following her asking what's going on. Kirsten has accepted that death is luring around the corner, Charlotte doesn't want it to happen and is scared (wouldn't you be?!). They build a make-shift teepee and all three sit in it blindfolded as the blue planet closes in on them and the movie ends. This is a long movie, be prepared to sit for a while. I liked it, but it felt it was a bit slow at times, either way, I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.

The past few days have been a blur at times. I really don't see where the time has gone considering I haven't done much lately. I need to find myself and star to do things I have enjoyed in the past. I love to cook and I do cook, but not as often as I would like. I've been looking at recipes, which most look good and I've bookmarked them, so maybe one day I will get the courage to REALLY try something different. My hubby is not complaining about my cooking, he loves it, I only wish I had more motivation to want to try something new and different. Enough about me, let's get into talking about some movies.

• In Search Of A Midnight Kiss: I'm kicking myself about this movie. I was SO sure I had typed out a review of this movie when I saw it a few weeks ago. I went back in my blog, but could not find it. So this was on a few days ago and I wanted to see what I had written about it. Well, I hadn't. How the fuck this movie went past me without having written anything about it had me baffled. I even mentioned it to my hubby, because he watched this movie with me and liked it. The movie is set on New Year's Eve and a single guy who is living with my friend and his girlfriend. The friend suggests the single guy post a personal ad to find a date, so he won't be so lonely. He hesitates, but finally does it. He gets a response and meets up with a gal. It's quite funny, because she questions him a bit then tells him to go sit at another table cause another potential date had arrived. After turning the second guy down, the gal and him then take on the getting to know you phase by walking and talking throughout Los Angeles (love it!). She is testing him and he isn't too sure of how he should be responding to her. They argue, decide to go their separate ways, but never really do. There are a few other mishaps going on, some quite funny. But in the end, she reveals that she is pregnant. He does get his midnight kiss and something afterwards. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Conception: This was not a recorded movie, but something that was on late at night (1:30am) and I figured I would watch it and fall asleep. I think this movie had gotten a two star rating, but we actually enjoyed it. It has to do with about 5 couples who are either trying to get pregnant, or get pregnant (prepared for it or not). I wouldn't consider this a typical aww, I want to have a baby movie. Ok, well it had very little of it, but it was more of the (funny and not so funny) obstacles couples have gone through to make this happen. This movie wasn't all too serious, so it didn't really tug at my heart, except for a few moments, but overall it was pretty enjoyable. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• The Chorus: This was another unrecorded movie that we watched during a nice lunch I had prepared that consisted of chik-n wraps with mushrooms, lettuce, ranch dressing, and tomato, accompanied by a strawberry and banana smoothie. Yum, I'm getting hungry as I'm typing this out. Anyway, We didn't catch the first few minutes of this movie, but it's a French film that was sadly dubbed. It was still a good movie, but I prefer subtitles over dubbed movies. It has to do with a new teacher at an all boys boarding school where the headmaster is a hard-ass to the boys and the staff.  The teacher gets through the boys by having them in a choir, which the headmaster sees as a waste of time. The teacher never really wanted anything for himself, just the best for the boys. A countess comes to listen to them sing and the headmaster is hating the idea, but  smiles when she shows up. When the headmaster is away to get recognition of how well he is heading the school by the countess, he gets a call saying there is an emergency at the school. Turns out the school was on fire by a boy he had previously mistreated and had kicked out and had had arrested for supposedly stealing from him. In the end the new teacher is fired (he had taken the boys on a nature walk and had left school grounds), due to what the headmaster called negligence of the school. Meaning if they had been on the grounds the fire wouldn't have occurred. As the teacher walks out, there is a voice-over about how he never got a chance to say good-bye to the boys. As he turns the corner, he notices there are a lot of paper airplanes on the ground and when he looks up, he sees a lot more flying down. He opens a few of them and there are notes written from the boys to the teacher. He ends up walking to the bus stop, where soon one of his students tells the teacher that he wants to go with him. After saying no repeatedly, the teacher gives in and brings the boy on board. It was a Saturday. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.
• The Child: This is another French film, but with subtitles. I didn't like it. At all. It has to do with an asshole who has kids steal for him, then he gives them a cut of however much he makes from the stolen goods. Then there is a gal who is carrying a baby and trying to find this asshole because it turns out she JUST GOT released from the hopsital with her NEWBORN baby, who belongs to the asshole. When she finally finds him, he doesn't even seem ecstatic, then we learn that he never even went to go visit her at the hospital and he wasn't even there for the delivery. She wants to go to her place, but the asshole has sublet it out to some guy who can get his fuck on with a girl. So the new mom and baby have to sleep in a shelter for a few nights. She questions him about getting a job and he claims that "working is for losers". Uhm, then what the FUCK are you asshole?! Well, it turns out that he mentions he is a dad to one of his sellers and the lady makes a remark on how baby selling is a big thing and you can get a lot of money. While waiting in line to get food stamps (I think) the mom suggests to the asshole to take the baby for a walk. He does, then he calls the lady about selling the baby...which he does, without any hesitation. He ends up meeting back with mom  and she asks about the baby. This good for nothing asshole deadbeat dad nonchalantly tells her, "I sold him, I got good money." She argues with him and ends up fainting twice. He then has to carry her to the hospital where she told the nurses what he did to the baby. He gets questioned by the police and he denies everything stating that they got in an argument and she was upset with him, so she made up lies. Afraid of going to jail, he calls the lady back and says he made a mistake and wants the baby back. He then takes the baby back to the hospital and is reunited with the mom. The asshole gets into more shit, and involves one of the kids he uses to steal with. The asshole tries to reconcile with the mom, but she's not having any of it. He then goes to visit the kid in jail and he finally admits that he is the one stealing and that's where the movie ends. I did not like this movie whatsoever. He needed to get a beating, raped, murdered...something, not just confess to stealing merchandise. Nothing was mentioned about stealing or selling the baby. I don't know how this movie had a rating of 3 stars. I give this movie 1 Daisy-girl, if that.

I never really showed a picture of my doggie. I love her, as you can tell. I rate movies based on her and the opinions are my own. She doesn't live with me, so these picture are a few years old. I left her with my parents when I moved to Texas 5 years ago. I miss her terribly, but I know she is in good (too damn good) hands with my parents.
