OOOoh okay, check me out. I'm a roll on actually posting some movie reviews as quick as I can (two this week!!! Can you believe that?!?!?). Ya, I know it's not THAT exciting, just blame it on my lack of sleep. I swear I'm going to start taking something in order to fall asleep sooner than 4a.m.
So my husband knows I do these reviews, but doesn't even bother to read them or ask me about them or even go to my site. Fuck, I don't even know if he knows the url. At times, he watches my DVR movies with me, other times he doesn't. But, I HATE HATE HATE when he takes control of the remote after a movie has ended and decides to erase it from our DVR recording list. As soon as he does that, I ask him, "are you going to remember the name of this movie so I can write my review?" , then it dawns on him that OoOooh ya, the wife does this boring shit because she thinks people actually read her movie review blog when in fact there is only 1 follower and it's a friend from back in Cali who probably hasn't even read a single review of hers since my wife was added to her list of who she is following, and even then she was just being nice because my wife follows her on her on blog. No, I don't think he actual thinks this, it's just me ranting, because he deletes the movies (when by the time I review the movie, I may have forgotten the title of it, and because MAYBE I want to keep the movie, so I can watch it again later on) before I review them, and  don't think he realizes that these posts take quite some time to write about.

• On The Shoulders Of Giants: The Story Of The Greatest Time You Never Heard Of: See sometimes I am nice enough to record stuff that may appeal more to my hubby than me. This was somewhat the case on this documentary. My main reason for recording this was because my hubby loves basketball, especially old teams. I recorded this because Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the writer and narrator of it. The film has to do with an all black team WAY back in the 1930's and how they were the greatest team of basketball of ALL TIME. I mean ALL THE FUCKEN TIME. Since, I think basketball has existed. I'm talking about 84 out of 90 games won. I'm talking about playing 10 games in 8 days. And the were called the Harlem Renaissance. So why haven't many people heard about this fucken baddass team? Because they were black. At some point, when the Celtics were the best of the best, they played against the Rens and won. They played again and ended up losing. The Celtics lost so badly that they decided to call it an exhibition game and not a regular game. In order words, they were ashamed to have lost to an all black team. This documentary features retired players, sons of the Rens players, and some coaches. It was a very moving and motivating film. I hope more people know about this film than I think, because I had never heard of this until a day before I saw it. I give this 5 Daisy-girls.
•  Take This Waltz: Oh my god! Uhm ya, go see this fucken movie. I loved it! Pretty sad, but can't help that I cheered for the main character to go after what she wants, but felt ashamed because of what actually happened. This movie stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, and Luke Kirby (cutie!). Michelle and Seth are married, Luke is a neighbor. It's cute how Luke and Michelle kind of flirt, but are well aware that this cannot happen between them...at first anyway. The little tingle of excitement that something is interrupting your normal everyday life, especially when your husband, who you adore is too busy trying to write a cookbook about chicken. I don't really care for Seth Rogen and my hubby and I had a convo if he has ever done a movie in which he doesn't smoke weed or talk about it. Not that we see a lot of his movies, but ya, we were wrong in this movie. He's pretty clean. haha. Anyway, ya ooh this movie. I love it a lot. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.
• Velvet Goldmine: I have seen this movie on a lot of movie lists to watch. Hmm, does that make sense? This movie stars a lot of good actors: Ewan McGregor (yum!), Christian Bale (yum!), Toni Collette, and Jonathan Rhys Myers. Lots of glitter clothes and bad clothes, but the music was pretty kick-ass. I know I won't be saying much about what the movie is about, but I would recommend it. There is a little note at the beginning of the movie, how it is not based on a real story, but to turn it up full volume. I recommend this. The music is great. Sadly, I couldn't do this because I was watching it kind of late in the night. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.

I really need to start updating this movie blog more often. I've been watching movies, but then by the time I get to blogging about it, I'm losing valuable interest in what it was about. Not as in I don't know what rating to give it, but more as in valuable information of what makes it stand out, or parts of the storyline.

• Looper: I don't really care for Bruce Willis. Ya, I know and I don't want to hear it. I know him as David Addison from Moonlighting, not as the yippy- kayay crap. Never seen a Die Hard movie (well I've seen snip-its of it, but whatever). Anyway, I saw this because I had read that it was a good movie. I love me some Joseph Gordon- Levitt. Him, I can watch in multiple movies, the guy is awesome! Anyway, I had forgotten that I had read about his fake nose to make him appear more like a younger Willis. This did not look good on him, he looked kinda strange. I actually liked the movie, it was a bit predictable in some parts, but overall, it was a pretty decent and entertaining movie. I give this 4 Daisy-girls.
•  Fireflies In The Garden: This movie has a LOT of known names: Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Carrie- Ann Moss, Hayden Panettiere. The story flips from present to flashback and back to present through Ryan's eyes. His dad (Willem) was pretty damn strict, making him walk home in the rain for supposedly losing his glasses. As it goes to present time, we see that Ryan did not care to come home, but did so because his mom (Julia) was going to be graduating college after being a stay-at-home mom for years. Thing is, it turns out mom and dad got into a car accident due to their nephew ( of all people) standing in the middle of the street getting a baseball. Mom passes away and the rest of the movie is ow guilty the kid feels, Ryan and his sister trying to figure out what to do with mom's things and the secret life mom had (an affair for the past 2 years) with a professor who actually made her happy. Which was all Ryan really cared about. Willem was an asshole. I don't get how the movie got bad reviews, it's not so bad of a movie. There were a few unresolved issues, but I read about them in some movie spoiler sites. I guess I must have missed them in the actual movie, or it was just assumed. Anyway, I say go watch this movie. I give it 3 Daisy-girls.
• Inside Deep Throat: Uhm ya, go see this documentary. It talks about the actual movie "Deep Throat" and the real people involved in it are interviewed, except of course for Linda Lovelace (in case you didn't know, she died). It talks about how it became very popular, how it changed movie life, how it changed everyone's life who was involved in one way or another in the film. Even the main porn guy (the doctor! heh), who was sent to jail and was in there for 5 years(!) just for starring in this movie. Ya, they do show snip-its of the actual movie, so be prepared to actually watching the deep-throating going on. But this documentary was very interesting and that's not only because I have a sick twisted mind at times. I give this 5 Daisy-girls.
• Toast: Movie starts Freddie Highmore (Norman Bates!), Helena Bonham Carter, and some other actors. Starts from Freddie's character being young and how mom was not a great cook or baker, so every time she messed up dinner time (which was often), she would make toast. Once dad was awake at night and heard moaning coming from Freddie's room. Dad opens the door and asks what he is doing, Freddie's kid character pops up from under the covers and says nothing, after dad leaves, the kid pulls out a book about food that he had been looking at under the covers. He tries to make dinner a few times, but dad doesn't like change and mom feels as if she is useless, so once again, for dinner, there is toast. Mom passes away due to asthma and Helena shows up to cook and clean the house. This makes Freddie uncomfortable. As time passes, Freddie is now a high school kid who decides to take home economic classes so that he can cook for dad. Helena ( by now the step-mom) is still part of their lives and he competes with her to get dad's attention through food.  In the end, Freddie decides to leave and work at a restaurant kitchen where he is seen smiling and ready to enjoy his adult life. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Celeste and Jesse Forever: I had been wanting to see this movie since it came out in the theater. Thank goodness I waited to see it at home. ya, I cried, what of it?!? It means I have a damn heart that got chipped a bit because I did really want Celeste and Jesse to work it out no matter what! I cried because this could be any couples relationship that married their best friend and their best friend means everything to them! Anyway, I wasn't really bawling, but it was a quirky movie in which Celeste and Jesse decide that their marriage didn't workout and decided to separate. He lives in the garage in the meantime and she lives in the house. they still hang out every day, feelings are still there, but they both try and stand their ground. Well damn Jesse fucks it up and slept with  chick (this is all told because it happened before the movie story line) and it turns out she is pregnant, so he wants to make it work out with her. Celeste says something that still to now make me wince. When they were discussing how kids was never an option in their marriage, Celeste says that it's not that she didn't want to have kids, she didn't want to have kids with him (Jesse). Ya, she had reservations about having kids with her best friend, her husband. Ouch!!!! This wasn't even a heated argument, where you say stupid shit you regret. No, this was an intimate discussion and what they were going to do about this pregnant chick. I'm sorry, but no matter what, if you still love your soon-to-be ex and is still in your life as your best friend, you NEVER tell them anything like that. THAT broke my heart, I felt bad for Jesse. I can't really say he fucked up because they were separated when he fucked the other chick. I say they both did, in other ways. Anyway, I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.

Where does the time go? I usually post three movies at a time, but for some reason I was going through my DVR list and realized that I have watched six movies in total and not posted anything about them yet. But, I'm sticking with the three or four movie postings and hopefully I can get back on track with it. It's not that I've been watching a lot of recorded movies lately, it's more of where the fuck does the time go and I swear I posted this movie already, which I hadn't.

• Cliente: Spanish movie with subtitles.Marco leads a double life. He is Marco at home to his wife and family and he is Patrick to his clients. He works as a construction worker, but also as a male prostitute, hence the clients. He gets paid in cash and at times the ladies buy him gifts, which he then gives to his family as birthday gifts and such. He doesn't enjoy prostituting. In fact, the only reason he does it is because his wife owns a beauty salon and he is paying it off for her along with paying for everything else at home. The wife is cheerful and in love with her husband, he seems that way at first, but I dunno. Judith is one of his clients who works as an informercial spokesperson. He realizes who she is when he sees her on tv the next day. Judith works and lives next to her sister, who has a different and funny story of her own. Judith is older and single and calls the male prostitutes once or twice a month, but felt a closeness to Patrick. She soon starts to fall in love with him. The wife answers Marco's phone one day and she is given an address, to which the wife goes to. An Asian lady answers the phone and the wife demands to speak to her husband. Marco/Patrick comes out with a towel around his waist and the wife takes off running and crying. They start to argue at home, but her mom keeps butting in seeing as they all live together and the walls are thin. He promises her that he will stop prostituting, but when the money gets low and they can't pay rent for the salon, the wife has a change of plans, but with stipulations. She ends up meeting Judith and states that Marco/Patrick needs to get home by 8pm so they can have dinner together, no meetings on Saturdays and no sleepovers. Judith couldn't give a shit and soon Patrick is staying at her place longer. This starts another argument between the married couple, that she kicks Marco out. Marco gets drunk, then heads over to Judith who doesn't want to deal with a slosh, but soon gives in. They become a couple, but then Marco realizes he misses his wife and all this is not right. By this time, Judith doesn't want to let him go, but in the end they go their separate ways and Judith goes to visit her sister in America. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls. It was a fun movie to watch.
• Monsoon Wedding: Indian movie with English and at times subtitles. Typical Indian movie (as if I've seen many) about an arraigned marriage and how the daughter does want to get married (because she feels she will get old and die alone, and she wants someone to love her unconditionally), but is scared to do so. Lots of lovely colors, and pretty women, dancing, and singing. There is also a little love story about the event coordinator and the housemaid of the main family, which is an aww moment at times. The main couple do have their ups and downs in where she tells him she doesn't want to marry him, but can't marry the guy she really wants. He gets upset, but on the drive home he tells her that he has been in love before, but that it never works out how we really want it to. They both compromise and soon are happy and comfortable with each other. the lovey-dovey stuff happens and it's all cute. There is another little side story about the main girls cousin and some family friend who is pretty much family. I had seen this movie mentioned before, but I had never bothered to watch it, I wish I had. Go see this movie, I give it 5 Daisy-girls.
• Appropriate Adult: watch this movie.

Wow, oh wow! Ever since we moved and we got a movie package deal from u-verse, I have been going movie crazy. Since my last post, I have 9 other movies to review. Some were blah and others were pretty interesting. So here goes....

• Quinceanera: I missed the first few minutes of the movie. I had seen the dvd box every time we've gone to Target, so when I saw this playing I decided to watch it. It's in English, but some Spanish. A 14 year old girl is pregnant and gets kicked out of the house by her dad, even though she claims over and over again that she did not have sex. She goes to live with her great uncle and her gay cholo cousin. Well, it turns out that she didn't have sex with her boyfriend, but I guess he jizzed on her leg or inner thigh, or right above her cooch and somehow it got in there. The boyfriend ends up dumping her, the great uncle dies, mom explains to dad what happened and she ends up having her quinceanera after all, but with a different dress. It was pretty decent, I was more interested in her gay cholo cousin. This is the first that I've seen and I wanted more storyline on him. I give this 4 Daisy- girls.
• V/H/S: Hmm, this movie....well... it was...hmmm...I don't know. A bit odd. Some guys who record and vandalize shit get hired by some guy to go get a VHS tape from some house where an old man lives. When they get there, they find a room with a lot of televisions and a lot of tapes. Oh, and the old man is dead on the sofa. One of the guys stays in the room (WTF so?!? I mean there's a dead old man there that reaks and it's fucken creepy) to view the tapes while the others go about the house to see what else they find. There are about 4 tape stories and each one gets more and more weird. I only got creeped out by one and that's because it had to do with some kid ghost. I won't go much into detail, but one story had a succubus girl, another had some Predator-like killer in the woods, the ghost kid one, and the last one was a seance one. I actually thought it was going to be more than what it was, nothing of what I thought. I give this movie 2 Daisy-girls.
• Carnage: Two couples get together to discuss  and clear up any confusion about their sons getting into a fight. Well, not exactly a fight, but some kid pushes the other kid and the other kid hits him in the face with a stick. Oh well kid, you get what you deserve. After the parents agree on a formal letter of what happened they decide to part ways but every time one couple was about to leave, their anger and confusion brought them back into the house. They end up talking, well more arguing about who is a better parent, who has raised their kid better, who likes animals... it goes on and on. The movie is set in a living room and it's these two couples arguing about anything that they do not see as making sense in the other couples lives. Loved Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet in it. The kids are never seen except when the incident occurred during the opening credits. Some arguments were justified while others were not. I think if I were put in that situation and that was my house, I would have kicked the other couple out a long time ago. If I was the other couple, I would have kicked them and let after I had finished barfing on their out-of-print books. I liked this movie more than expected, I give it 5 Daisy-girls.
• Colombiana: This movie stars Zoe Saladana. When she was small her parents got kicked by some bad guys. She ran away and found her way to her grandma's and uncles house in the States. Fast forward to her being older, she wants revenge for her parents being killed. Even though her uncle showed her how to kill (because that's what she wanted to do ever since she was a little girl), her uncle didn't know that she would be going after the people who killed her parents. It was an entertaining movie, some things were a little too hard to believe. I give this movie 3 Daisy-girls.
• Waterbone: I stumbled upon this movie late at night when I couldn't go to sleep. It had to do with someone tainting the L.A. River and people were advised to not drink or do anything with tap water, including washing your hands for 72 hours. I guess it was set sometime in the Summer because everyone was sweating. Has about 3 storylines and one of the guys goes all crazy cause he needs his water. So crazy he ends up killing for it. I mean I know we can't live without water, but I think I can manage for 3 days. There's other stuff to drink, but everyone wanted water. Oh, and for some reason, you couldn't drink beer, I don't know why, it wasn't really explained, but everything else was up for grabs since no one talked about them. Then one day it rains, and there's a newscaster talking about how they got the guy who possibly tainted the water and they don't see a terrorist relation. All of a sudden L.A. was all happy about getting their water. I love L.A. let me say it again... I LOVE L.A.! But this movie was dumb. I give it 1 Daisy-girl.
• The Other F Word:  This movie is more of a documentary about men in punk bands that are now dads. I liked it. I knew some of them, well the bands, but it was interesting to see their view on how a dad should be with their kids. Some of them got emotional because they either grew up without a dad, or dad was abusive, or a drunk, or something else. I give this documentary 5 Daisy-girls.
• Coco Avant Chanel: This movie stars Audrey Tautou. She plays Coco Chanel before she became Coco Chanel. It's in French with English subtitles. I don't know much about Coco Chanel the person, but if this movie is close to her real life then it was pretty damn interesting. She built a name for herself and was a very determined person. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.
• The Ides Of March: I think this movie won some awards when it came out. Finally saw it and it was pretty good. Stars George Clooney, Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Gosling and a few other big names. Political movie. Ryan works for George, then he finds out something that occurred. Sees him through a new set of eyes and Ryan then doesn't know if he should keep working for him or not. I give this movie 4 Daisy-girls.
• Standing In The Shadows Of Motown:  Music documentary about the Funk Brothers band. They played the music for BIG names back in the day. ANyone you can think of that sang Motown music...The Supremes, Smoky Robinson, The Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas... It was a very informative and loving movie and dedication to one of America's best musicians that a lot of people did not know about. I give this 5 Daisy-girls.

Some of the following were recorded and others I just watched as they came on.

• About Cherry: Nothing special. Girl runs away from home and starts to do topless pictures, then becomes a stripper, then stars in porn. James Franco comes out in it as a coke-head lawyer. Dev Patel comes out as her best friend who jerks off to her porn, but when she finds out, she gets pissed and moves out. He has a point when he yells "Why can everyone else see you naked and I can't?" Well not the exact quote, but I hope you get the picture. 1 Daisy- girl.
• Dear Lemon Lima: Quirky movie about a girl who is half Eskimo and she gets a grant to attend the same school as her boyfriend. He is a dick. Goes away for the Summer, then he comes back and instead of dumping her, he strings her along. Only acknowledges her when she does something good, but otherwise ignored for other stuff. She gets sent to the weight room where there are other oddballs and the form a bond since no one else wants to be friends with them. Since it's based in Alaska, there are these events the school does and they form a team. TEAM FUBAR! Ya, don't think this ends on a feel-good moment, but it somewhat does. She finally comes to the realization that she can live without the boy, befriends an enemy, loses a neighbor friend, but she becomes her own person. I give it 3 Daisy-girls.
• Love Me If You Dare: This is a cutesy movie. Has to do with a boy and a girl who dare each other to do things that will pretty much get them in trouble. If you do the dare, you get to keep a carousel tin box. Well, that's what they do, but the try to outdo each other. It gets to the point where the principal, and even the parents try separating the two, but it doesn't work. As years pass on, they continue the dares and boy do they get daring. He dares her to wear her bras and panties over her clothes to her final exams, she dares him to fuck a colleague because she wants her earrings. After some time, he gets tired and says he needs a year off, so she agrees. They don't see each other, but once they reunite, the game continues. Later on, they don't see each other for I think about 10 years and when they reunite he is married and has 2 kids. He feels his life is a bored. He sees that she didn't come to see hi, but then he gets a box delivered and it's the carousel tin. He drives off, and meets up with her, a few dares here and there. They finally come together as a couple. Something that they did not want to face all these past years of knowing one another. I give it 4 Daisy-girls.
• Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic: Not a HUGE fan, but I liked him. Documentary about his comedic and private life. Lots of interviews with famous comedians and his ex-wives. Very interesting, amusing, and sad. I give it 4 Daisy-girls.
• A Better Life: Mexican dad who has been working illegally in L.A. as a gardener is trying to keep his teenage son out of becoming a loser and joining a gang. The son IS a loser. At the beginning of the movie he tells his dad he needs money. Dad pretty much tells him money doesn't grow on trees. Kid says, " I need money. Go mow some lawns."  Dad makes a BIG decision in trying to better his life for himself and his son, but they are soon shattered because his truck got stolen. The rest of the movie has to do with dad and son trying to locate the man who stole his truck, but they bond. They come across this Mexican celebration and the kid says, "What's this? A costume party?" At this point I was all what the fuck kid?!?! You're dad is illegally here, his main spoken language is Spanish, you have a damn cactus on your forehead, you live in East L.A. and you're questioning how Mexicans dress with their Charro suits and bold-colored dresses?! Are you fucken kidding me? Ugh, can't stand that kid. Anyway, they don't get the truck because it was sold to the black market, they find it, steal it, get stopped by the cops and dad is arrested. Kid goes to his aunt's house. Dad gets deported and the kid FINALLY realizes what dad has to put up with and has been going through for years to build a better life for himself and especially his son. I give this 4 Daisy- girls and not just because I'm Mexican.

DVR recorded movie ratings #10

     Although it seems like such a long time since I have posted, it's only been a little over a month and a half. So much has happened since then. Although I did not watch movies, instead I caught up with everyday television, I was distracted by other things. Such as moving! Yes, we finally moved out of Houston. I would be happier if we moved out of Texas, but we are still here. Nothing against Texas, I just don't/ didn't see myself living here in the long run. I still miss Cali, especially L.A., but the economy is still bad, if not it keeps getting worse. But like I mentioned before, we moved out of Houston and are now residing in Austin. We've been here a week exactly and we're still trying to find our way around here, but we love our new apartment and I love that there is no humidity. It has been in the triple digits these past few days, but I'm not feeling weighed down as I had been living in Houston. Give me dry heat, still don't like it, but I'm used to it much more than humidity.
     Since moving we upgraded our cable and we now have Showtime and the channels associated with it. My hubby and I have gone crazy with recording some movies. So here is what I've seen so far:

• Let The Right One In: Swedish movie with subtitles. I had read about this movie ever since it came out. I had seen it play on IFC, I think, but I never really got a chance to see it from the very beginning until now. I don't really go for ratings, but they sometimes catch my eye, especially if there has been some sort of buzz around it. Anyway, this movie got 3 stars.  As I was watching the movie (2 hours), I was waiting for the climax, the excitement, the hook, I never got it. I didn't see the 3 star quality. Maybe I missed something, but the way the movie was described it made it seem as if the boy was going to get the girl to take revenge on the bullies, but that wasn't the case at all. The just befriend each other since they are both loners. He is bullied and she is a vampire. I don't know, I guess I must have missed something, but I couldn't grasp to the story and I was waiting for it to end. I give this movie 2 Daisy- girls.
• We Need To Talk About Kevin: This was another movie I had been wanting to see and I had it up on my IMDB watchlist since it came out in the theater. This was interesting to watch. Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller were great! Mom struggles with Kevin ever since he was a baby. She tries to connect with him throughout the years, but it's no use. The disconnection is there, the hatred, the awkwardness...it's all there. And even though mom tries to talk to dad about all this, he shuns it down claiming that Kevin is just a boy.  This story is told in flashbacks about what Kevin ended up doing at school and how the whole town has turned against mom because of what her son had done. It's quite sad, but intriguing. I don't ever wish that feeling upon anyone. I felt her pain, her sadness, the I-want-to-shake-you-until-you-wake-up-from-this-bad-dream, but it was all there. I would highly recommend this movie, just don't expect a fantasy ending. I give this movie 5 Daisy-girls.
• Exit Through The Gift Shop: This documentary, movie, or whatever you want to call it has to do with street artists and their graffiti. It's pretty interesting and I had been wanting to see it for quite sometime. Some people have said it's a true movie, others say it's a hoax, but whatever it is, it sure was entertaining. This French guy who lives in L.A. with his family decides to videotape his cousin, who makes small space invader mosaics and glues them throughout the town. The French guy gets to meet other artists and videotapes them. Finally he meets Banksy and by this time, this guy thinks he is the shit. After Banksy's art starts to sell really well, he suggests to the French dude to get all his filming out there so that the right people can get credit for it. Well he does, well more like tries and he fails. Banksy doesn't like it and from what the film shows, it was very spazmatic. Banksy suggests the French guy go back home to L.A. and that he will work on the film. During this time, the French guy thinnks of himself very highly and instead of spending time with his family he decides he wants to go out there and put a name for himself in the graffiti world. Only he lets it go to his head even more. He decides to bank on it and sets up this BIG production of an art opening that he is not ready for. But he insist it be better than anyone else's art opening and  he even has a crew to help him out. At this point, I think this guy is an ass. He has a family and all he cares about is banking on something he has never really done. Banksy and a few others are left scratching their heads as to what has become of this French guy. The opening is a success and if anything the French guy got an even bigger head. Interesting and fun to watch. I recommend 4 Daisy-girls.

It's been a while and it could be the fact that I didn't really watch movies for quite some time. I was trying to catch up on shows I recorded and playing my new DSi that my hubby got me for my birthday a few weeks ago.

• Sexual Chronicles of a French Family: This movie has a lot of sex and nudity. Everyone in this movie comes out naked except for the principal and secretary. I mean the whole family is naked and having sex (not with each other of course). It has to do with some guy and his friends that dare each other to masturbate in class, record it, send it to some girl so she can judge. Except the boy got caught and suspended. The boy is 18 and a virgin and wonders what it's like to have sex. In the mean time, mom starts to questions whether or not she should talk to her 2 sons and her daughter about their sexual lives. She does, and they don't tell her much, but her father-in-law does dish out some info. It's quite a sad story, but I love it. The rest of the movie has to do with the boy trying to find his sexual side and how to go about it. Meantime, the brother ends up being gay (well bi) and the sis and her man are big ol' nymphos. In the end, I didn't really like the story. It didn't go anywhere. The boy was depressed this whole time because he hadn't had sex yet and when he does, he is smiling on a family portrait and the movie is over. I give this movie 2 Daisy- girls. 
• The Queen of Versailles: Hmmm, I had been wanting to see this movie/documentary when I first heard about it a while back. It was even on my IMDB movie watchlist. Then I saw that it was showing on Bravo and I recorded it. This movie/doc... call it what you want, is pretty interesting. It has to do with David Siegal and his wife and the 8 kids they have (oldest being 12). This family is loaded and set out to build the biggest single-family living mansion in the U.S. Was going to have about 10 kitchens, loads of bathrooms and even more loads of bedrooms, a ballroom, bowling alley... you name it. David owns the biggest timeshare company in the world, but when the economic crisis hit, it hit them big time. I like the family, well the parents. They both seem realistic and don't seem as if they are the king and queen of the world. They are realistic people that realized that they could not build their dream home and have to do with what they have, even shopping at Wal-Mart. It's not to say that mom gave away her fur coats and such, but they weren't trying to be snobby, or fake, or anything of that sort. It was actually sad in a way because David was trying so hard to keep his company going and not wanting to let go of his employees. the economic crisis hit everyone. I recommend seeing this film, I give it 5 Daisy-girls. It was a pretty interesting film.  
• Under the Same Moon: This movie is Mexican with English subtitles. Or American. Anyway, it doesn't really matter if it's Mexican or American, the thing is, it's pretty good to watch. It has to do with a Mexican lady who works for rich families over in Los Angeles. Her son is living with her mom in Mexico. Every Sunday she calls him from a pay phone and she tells him that she wishes she could be with him. I'm quite sure the kid is tired of hearing this BS from mom seeing as she hasn't seen him in about 6 years or so. Anyway, grandma dies, and seeing as he doesn't have a dad, he sets off to cross the border (illegally!) thanks to this young Hispanic couple (who don't speak Spanish!) who are willing to cross him over for some money (so the guy can continue on with his college courses). Everything is going fine after the border patrol checks them out, then they realize that the van they are in has expired tags and a lot of parking tickets. So there goes the van being towed away with the kid hiding under the back seat. A day or so later mom is still working with the richy families and the security guards (also Hispanic) has a thing for her and asks her out but she declines. Some lady from back in Mexico calls the mom to let her know that the kid is missing and that her mom died (this was about 4 days after). Now.... how the fuck are you not going to call someone to let them know your mom passed away?! Anyway, later on the kid tries to get help to go to L.A. and he meets up with some guy who tries to sell him off but some lady takes him. He ends up going to a house where there are illegal men there staying overnight. While working the immigration shows up and all the men scatter. He ends up tagging along with some man that couldn't care less about this boy, but he continues to tag along. they end up in Arizona and the kid says his dad lives there. He ends up seeing dad for the first time in years and the kids story touches the distant father that he promises to take him to L.A. to be with mom, only he doesn't show up. The man that dislikes the kid ends up feeling sorry for him and decides to ride with him to L.A. Meanwhile mom is debating whether or not she should stay in L.A. in case the kid shows up, or go back to Mexico. They finally find each other when mom is at the pay phone she calls her son at every Sunday, and the kid happens to end up there after running away from the cops. End of sob story. It was pretty decent like I said before, I give it 4 Daisy-girls.
